Confused about symptoms
Hi. I had angioplasty and 2 stents fitted last week and have a bruised arm which is painful - im hoping this will soon pass. As you had yours in november i would hooe your arm eould be pain and bruise free by now, its never a bad idea to see your GP or even a + e if your concerned. Hope all gets sorted for you.
Thanks so much for replying.they did say ticgrelor was to blame but this feels so tight and painful iv been today to gp who seemed unconcerned by it but I’m so uncomfortable its making me anxious 😥
If your in pain and anxious dknt just accept your GP comments, seek a second opinion 👍
It seems very common to experience both pain and bruising in the arm and shoulder post stent. I know I did as have countless others hereYou are probably on medication that means you bruise easily. You have had an invasive procedure and the resultant bruising will come out and cause pain. Take Paracetamol for the pain. If still anxious I would suggest talking to a BHF nurse who might reassure you.
Yes, I agree with the comments made by others. After my angioplasty it was very plain which route they had taken to remove the blood clot and insert the stents. The most painful area was under my armpit. It subsided with time with no lasting effect whatosever.
I had heart attack angioplasty and stent in November 2019 too. I also had slight twinges - and still do - along the route that they went in but mostly I am covered in bruising or bleeds under the skin. These are all over my legs, arms, and some on my body, one just popped in on my neck. They are not a result of me bumping those areas they just appear at any time. I’ve put it down to Ticagrelor and already very thin skin and fragile veins. But I am going to mention it to the cardiac rehab nurse on Monday because I’m wondering if I have this much bruising on the outside, could I also be bleeding internally? Will update if I get an answer.
I have had these bruises appear for 7 yrs after stents. It's the blood thinners after that cause it. Usually stay on them for life and the bruises continue. I am on clopidigrell and 75 mg aspirin. Still bruise so easily
Hello
Just a question I was told that dual anti platelet therapy was stopped a year after having stents. In my case they stopped Cloppy dog rel and continue on Aspirin for Life !!
When I went to GP with massive body bruises she booked me in for an INR blood test, came back fine so she said no need to worry it's the Cloppy
Regards
Yes normally 1 yr on clopidigrell and life for aspirin. As I had a triple bypass years before asked me to try stay on both. But recently went back to just aspirin, due to the bruising. Still the same at mo with aspirin alone. When I told my GP about massive bruises,he just said ,better than heart attack 😡
Go to your GP NOW.,
After a heart attack they found I had misaligned main & branch arteries & best treatment was bifurcated stents (3 stents in a "Y" shape with a "wedding band " around ) to correct affected areas. I had all over non painful purple/ black bruising from neck down to groin. This cleared in around a month. I haven't had angina or further heart attack in last 14 years so successful although i have had further more severe heart problems since.
After my first angiogram my arm was completely black from wrist to elbow. I continued to bruise for no reason while on ticagrelor. It also made me feel as if i had asthma, so bad it had to be changed. After a second angiogram and pressure test I didn't even have a pin prick mark where the needle went in. Now on just aspirin and covered in little black bruises but no pain. I would definitely get it investigated as it shouldn't really be hurting after so long
