I’ve been having strange symptoms that my doctors say is due to acid reflux. Started in February when I was getting really bloated after every meal. Then I started with back pain, tension headaches, anxiety, sore muscles, tightness in my throat and neck muscles and a sore throat and runny nose. This was lasting for months until I started on Dexilant. Helped a lot at first but then I was getting sick from it. Now I’m on Rabeprazole and sucralfate.
Anyone else have these types of symptoms for acid reflux?

Hi. I have been suffering similar symptoms for a while. The PPIs have only helped short term and side effects have not been good for me. The pain I had using rabeprazole was worse than the gastric pain. It’s interesting you say anxiety. I have been researching the brain gut connection for a while. Breathing exercises have helped me. I have been advised not to eat 3-6 hrs before bed and that does work although very unsociable. It’s a frustrating journey but I believe mine is closely linked with peri menopause. Only using gaviscon advance now but have been prescribed nortriptyline and it seems to be helping. Might be worth speaking to your doctor about that as nerves in stomach can be a huge part.
What you're describing is the exact symptoms I'm dealing with. I've been on Rabeprazole for a month. First 2 weeks it helped, after that felt like it made things worse. Anything help you?
Wow, that's a long time on the medication. I'm curious about sulctate. Was there any symptoms that stood out for them to prescribe that? I'm only on Rabeprazole for a month now.
Maybe I'll mention it this week. I've been on the Rabeprazole and yes lots of the symptoms have gotten 20% better. But the wrong food, and whammy they're all back
I been on rabeprazole for years..it the only medicine that help my acid reflux..I ran out was off for 2 weeks ..the acid problem came back in full force..the E.R. prescribed taking sucralfate..haven't tried it yet..been taking mylanta..and got my rabeprazole back...
Acid reflux is pretty common, not sure if it is necessarily heart related but can depend on what you eat and how you eat if - over the years have had to learn to eat more slowly (too many bad habits build up over the years especially when you are working, and I've had to learn to take my time), but ask BHF of your GP if it gets dysfunctional
