Hello everyone my doctor at my request is changing me from Amlodipine to losarten. I am abit worried as they all have side effects. Anyone on this drug that can say that it is ok. Read up about it the word potassium has been mentioned do they increase it should I not eat certain foods with potassium like bananas. Doctor told me to take it at night. Any thoughts on this drug would appreciate it. Just hope I have not jumped from frying pan to the fire.

I’ve never been told not to eat them and I eat one a day most days.

I ended up on Losartan after reacting badly to 5/6 other Prils & Tans, have been on it now for about a year with no side effects, I take mine every morning.

I eat 1 or 2 Bananas everyday with no problems, I asked about this when I started on them.

But we are all dif so I would say check with your GP/Cardiologist before you start munching a bunch a day :-)

I’ve been on Losartan since my HA and stents 6 months ago (switched from other BP med). I’ve not detected any side effects that have bothered me much. My heart nurse is gradually increasing the dose, checking kidney function and electrolytes via blood tests as we go along. All good.

I’ve taken Co-Q10 over the years for mild joint pain and stopped after my HA. I then suffered aches and pains on all the new meds but since resuming the Co-Q10 have been as right as rain.

As regards bananas. I’m contending with Type 2 diabetes diagnosed in the CCU. Bananas are way too high in carbs for diabetics.

I used to take amlodipine for many years, no side effects. Got changed to losartan when I developed AF. It made me extremely nauseated to the extent that I couldn't even keep water down. Now on ramipril and OK so far.

I have been on Losartan for about six months with no side effects. I swapped to losartan after ramipril caused a nasty cough which didn’t settle after three months of trying!

Good luck. Hope it goes well
