I’ve just found this forum. It seems very supportive. Like others I’ve been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation caused by mitral regurgitation. This was back in January. I need a mitral valve repair and have a pre op assessment next week at Papworth. I’m wondering if those of you who’ve had heart surgery could tell me how long after the pre op assessmen5 did you have the operation.

Hello within weeks as the pre assessment doesn’t have a long shelf life.
Hello, not long at all. I had my Aortic valve replaced during lockdown. The surgery has caused afib so I don't feel any better. My advice post surgery is lots of rest but do walk and don't lift anything. . Best of luck everything will be fine.
I had my mitro valve repaired and they had to open my chest back up 3 months later to replace it.
I recomend replacing it the first time, But everyone is differant .My heart surgeon said he does them everyday and it has always worked for him until I came along.
Only If would have known before!!Just sayin👍🙏❤
