Svt and ectopic and stress

Hi

I am 50 this next week and wandering if anyone else has svt and ectopic brought on by stress apparently. Also wondering if its part of menopause as I have read approaching menopause can bring on these symptoms. Have had echocardiogram ecg and BP monitored. Showed ectopic which they said is normal for middle aged ppl and a mitral valve which doesn't close fully and let's a bit of blood back in and have been give BP tablets which I haven't started yet as apparently can cause palpatations! Just wandering us there anyone else going through the same

I think most women have palpitations. I find the statement with regards to the mitral valve not functioning correctly quite concerning. (Middle aged PPl). I find that labelling at its best.

I would be asking to see a different cardiologist as blood backing up could become quite serious later on.

Stress definitely plays a part where our hearts are concerned. x

I never thought any more of it to be honest as he said it was normal. Even my doc today said so

Clearly my knowledge is not right where valves are concerned I would at least find out whether it is mild/moderate as marypw as stated underneath.

Leaky mitral valves are very common; the leak is usually classed as mild, moderate or severe. Mine has been moderate for at least 10 years, but I do get monitored at 6-12 monthly intervals. No symptoms with it at all.

Have you been given bisoprolol for your ectopics; I take 2.5 mg and it has almost completely stopped mine.

I have been speaking with my doc about increasing the dose today from 1.25 to 2.5mg as my cardiologist said I could take one in morning and one at night. At the time one was working so I left it but now bk at work my stress levels are higher and I'm getting episodes again. I went from ham to 3 weeks ago without any palpatations and had adenosine 3 weeks ago and again last night. The doc said today to try the extra one and see how it goes as currently my resting heart rate is high 50s lower 60s and not to take amlodipine they gave me as the bisoprolol she reduce BP also

It is trial and error to get on the right dose for many drugs. I was on 1.25 mg bisoprolol but that wasn't effective enough for my BP. My husband is on 2.5mg but his BP is way lower than mine. We're all different!

[Palpman]

I presume you have Atrioventricular Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia or better known as AVNRT.

I suffer from this and it is thought to be stress related. Everytime I get angry or stressed out the palps or tachycardia would start.

Unfortunately I am on Flecainide so I cannot take any antidepressants with it as it will prolong the QT interval to dangerous levels if taken together.

Most blood pressure and antiarrhythmic tablets can cause palps and/or arrhythmia of a different kind. Best is to ignore this.

I'm unsure. All they have told me is that I have svt. Ectopic beats. Mitral valve doesn't close off properly and BP is slightly high. But they don't seem worried. I do suffer with anxiety too. 3 weeks ago when I went to hospital with them and also last night when I went both episodes followed me getting stressed earlier in the day

I have those exact same symptoms ectopic beats mitral valve prolapse mild and tachycardia and the doctor wants to put me on metoprolol.

I am 55.

I had no symptoms for a whole week Had a Bad episode today following a tramatic event. Stress is definately a trigger. So is stomach acid.

I found your comments very interesting as I believe this is what I was diagnosed with I have atrial tachycardia.

Listed as SVT. But unclear as to what it is exactly from my doctor.

What you describe sounds like what I have.

Most likely is AVNRT as it is the most common SVT and it loves women.

SV means Supra Ventricular as in just above the ventricle but not quite in the Atrium. This area is known as the AV node.

The pulse travels down along the Atrium to this node and instead of continuing down to the ventricles some of it goes back up and reenters the Atrials.

Cardioversions and ablations are more successful with AVNRT patients than with AFIB patients.
