Heart attack v heart failure

Who can tell me please whether there’s any difference between having had a heart attack or heart failure.

I’m thinking about treatment, medications and aftercare.

In the CCU after my HA there was a fellow in the bed next to me who’d had HF and I got the impression it was a different issue to a HA.

I’ve not at any time had my HA referred to as HF, but my visit to the cardiac dept (Ulster Hospital) was at the HF unit and it was the HF nurse.

I am very happy that I’m back in the system, and that it’s up and running again. I was also very happy with the outcome of my visit. But I’m just wondering why suddenly I’m apparently in the HF pigeonhole.

Thanks for any thoughts.

I understand HF is more of a blanket term as technically a Heart attack can lead to HF. I have 30 years with AF and have been told similar.?!
