When did you have this done? I felt like that for about 2 weeks afterwards. I was told that it was my body adjusting to stents and my new medication. After this, it all settled and I have been fine since unless I exercise, which I was probably like this before, but never realised.

It’s hard to not see everything highlighted about the heart now. I have to tell the brain it’s okay.

I get this, I describe it like someone with sleep apnea stopping breathing and starting again. My cardiac nurse didn’t seem bothered? I have 3 stents and 2 x cabg. But my dog knows when it’s going to happen and will jump off the bed/sofa as it scares her?

Oh yes this was a real problem for me. (By pass)I found it has improved enormously over the months. Also it depended on what I eat and if I developed a bloated stomach. A lot of it with me I think was psychological. I found walking helphul and breathing excercises. It’s odd how many strange feelings we get after open heart surgery that I never had before and tend to forget just how much of a battering the old body has taken!

Hiya did you have this before your bypass ?

I had this before I had my first stent fitted but that was 22 years ago ..

No didn’t have this at all. I could always take a deep breath. However after the bypass it became a problem. More so when I was not doing much. Getting up in the morning was like starting up a lazy motor

I get this as well but I think mine is caused by a hiatus hernia.

I too have a small hiatus hernia never thought it could be that

As Air from your stomach pushes up it can become difficult to fully inflate your diaphragm and thus gives you the feeling of 'catching your breath' as it were.

There's a lot of hiatus hernia forums on the Internet and it's responsible for a range of symptoms that mimic a heart attack.
