Hi Mike, yes, this is normal to feel dizziness sometimes with AF. Your heart is not pumping correctly, so the blood flow is not getting to your brain as it should. The AF can be fixed via surgery, where they go through an artery up to your heart (they went through an artery in my groin for my operation). I had bad AF in 2012 and had a mini stroke as well (tia), so if they want to start you on warfarin do heed the advice of the Dr. You don't want a stroke!

Hi,

Thanks for that. I've had AF for a couple of years now and its getting worse so my Doc has re-medicated me and made an appointment at the clinic for a possible ablation. The dizziness is a new development and is quite scary....!

I'm on Apixaban and Flecainide...

Hi H,

Only speaking from my own experience, there were many times when I felt faint during the several years I put up with AF. But, stupidly, I kept "soldiering on". When I finally had enough after being hospitalised, due to the mini stroke I mentioned before, it was a great relief to get it fixed via cryo-ablation. The surgeon I had did it all in one go, and 8 years later I have not had one repeat episode of AF. He was brilliant!

I believe the Apixaban is an anticoagulant. That's good. Don't stop taking the meds mate. You do not want a stroke, even a mini one, like I had, but if the AF is getting worse (and I think that is generally what happens to most who get AF problems), then be clear when you explain the progression to the Specialist and don't be afraid of the surgery. It obviously has risks, but living with AF and the great possibility of a stroke is a worse risk in my book.
