Hi guys, I know this was years back, but I recent had stents and now I'm still having tigteness of chest and short of breath, leaving me feeling all heavy on the chest, even if I'm taking slow pace walking. Can some one tell me, even after stent why am I still feeling this? Thanks
Tight chest : Hi guys, I know this was... - British Heart Fou...
Tight chest
Yea, Tightness of the chest accompanied by shortness of breath doe not always mean heart problems. It could be stress relating to the medical treatment you are receiving. I suffered from same as a younger man; I too have heart problems; but after many years I knew the tightness was stress related. Good Luck.
I’m afraid we won’t be able to diagnose here.. ....we are not qualified....but I
would speak to your GP and get a good medical view. See what they think.
I had stents in december and didnt feel well at all for months untill about april i had pain and tightness when walking uphill espeacially they said it was the vains stretching anyway i feel much better now and can walk uphill a lot better good luck and hope you feel better soon i have 5 stents
I had stents five weeks ago and when I came home I couldn’t walk to my letterbox without being doubled over in pain with angina. The pain didn’t go away and I was really wondering why. You are told to exercise but how can you when it’s like that. I had my after stent appointment with theCardiologist a week ago and he told me my heart spasmed during the procedure and he has diagnosed me as having cardiac artery spasms. He changed my medication to Diltiazem. I can’t begin to tell you the difference and I’ve only been on them a week. I feel so much better. Apparently cardiologists are still learning about this condition. I understand your disappointment and fear re having the stents done and still in pain. I felt it too. Good luck.
Oh and he also told me that they spent a lot of time with a patient with whom they could not work out why she was in pain and it turned out to be asthma.
Yes - that happened to me too. Part of the issue could well be a subconscious (and conscious) fear that the stents a) are not doing their job, b) have moved and c) you’re heading for another heart attack. Also, when you’ve had stents fitted your body has been physically assaulted by having a tube shoved into a vein and moved around. Your muscles, interconnecting tissues, nerves etc have to recover - the key is not to expect too much too soon. It can take up to two years for a body to begin to ‘feel relatively normal’ after having stents fitted. My heart attack was in December 2018 and I am now only just becoming relatively fit across the board, physically. 🤗
IT could also be medication. After my heart attack and stents I had similar problems and my GP had to change/adjust my tablets. Ask your doctor
