Night time lower bpm rate for improved sleep

Hi everyone,

I've just had a 3rd PM interrogation & it is working as it should do I am assured. I was a tad surprised when told I was being paced at 98% upper & 2% lower is that good or bad?

Has anyone had their lower Pacemaker BPM rate lowered at night to improve sleep if so has it worked, my own PM lower rate is set at 65bpm day & night. So we talked & have adjusted it too 55bpm at night in the hopes my sleep pattern improves ( I constantly wake & am restless throughout the night), sure am hoping for an improvement!!

Best wishes & Stay safe everyone

hope things improve for you stumpy47, I dont know anything about pacemakers other than im waiting to see if im having one . they have mentioned i probaly will be. hope your sleep improves i have heard such positive things about pacemakers so hope it can be set at the rate things can improve. its awful when you cant sleep ive not had a decent nights sleep for such a long time due to my heart and QT intervals so good luck. Take care.

Hi Stumpy. Like Seasider, I didn't know you could have day and night settings. My ICD is set for a lower rate of 40, which it often used to go down to at night because of my meds. My HR generally doesn't fall much below 50 during the day, so the pacemaker isn't needed then. (My meds were changed 6 months ago, so that my sleeping HR has risen and tends not to fall below around 45 now, so the PM isn't needed to do anything.)
