Stent testing

Has anyone on here had pressure test on stents done and did it hurt. As I had it done on my stents and it really hurt and I've still got the after effects 10 months since it was done. The test was done in the LAD where I had a stent put inside another stent. Any advice would be great as it's made my life hell.

Thanks

hi bradybluee. i underwent this proceedure last year. i can’t say it hurt but i felt unwell and thought i was having a heart attack. when i mentioned it to the doctor he said it’s ok we’re deliberately inducing a mock heart attack which at the time didn’t make me feel any better. what i will say is iv never felt right since❤️shiona

Hi shiona

When they did mine I didn't feel pain in my chest or heart I felt like I was being electrocuted in the back of my neck and my head was going to explode it was worse than a heart attack. The following day I got really bad burning sensation in the tops of my arms with a high pitched noise in my head. Since then my arms constantly hurt and I've got ringing in my ear. Consultant says heart is ok but some sort of damage has been done.

What issues are you having

hi steve. as i said the obvious was the uncomfortable feeling during it. didn’t feel great for a few weeks. tiredness weakness dizziness but that common for me. just not right. had a stress test 3 weeks later which the doc wasn’t happy about as i’d just had a restenosis. so off i went for another angio and another stent in right coronary artery this time. you couldn’t write it. since those two procedures iv never got myself back to where i was fitness wise or well being wise. nothing specific. the main problem is pain in calves which prevents me from walking as far or as fast as i was. energy levels have dropped dramatically. fatigue is horrendous. angina much more frequent and intense. ended back in hospital 2 weeks ago with angina which wouldn’t go. had another stress test which i almost completed. doc decided although there was a few changes since last time he didn’t think it warranted another angio at this time. still struggling on a daily basis but trying to keep positive. waiting on appointment my my own cardiologist as had 2 appointments cancelled due to covid. just wish they could find why i’m not functioning normally. what they doing about your symptoms?❤️

Hi shiona

I think we may have our wires crossed. The stress test I ment was when they do a angio they put a wire in the stent and pressure test it with a electric current going through the wire to make sure stents are ok. Was you talking about a stress ecogram? The one where you have to run on the treadmill 🤔.

Be safe

One of the side effects of the stress test I get things muddled up 🤣🤣 I've seen a neurologist/ reumertolgy/ urologist/ENT/ because of all the symptoms I've got from a angio I had In March 2019 they found a stent in the LAD had partly collapsed so they put another stent inside the collapsed one and the next day I started getting unwell in all parts of the body I was fine before the angio just had little pain in chest. When I had HA they said I should of had a bypass but did emergency stents on a Saturday night instead. They said I was to young to have a bypass I was 47. I was back working after 6 weeks as I'm self employed and was not to bad until March last year since then nothing but problems but cardiologist said heart is ok..... but this all started 1x day after the angio😩.

i think the muddled thing is just a side effect of the meds we take. iv had that since HA 2years ago. also struggle to find simple words. it’s a very frustrating side effect but better than the alternative 🤣your very young for all this though. my stent collapsed after a year. that’s when they did the strength test and put another one inside previous one. i’m self employed too and it’s not much fun when you can’t afford to stay off work too long. things are starting to settle down with me now at last (hopefully). some of us are just unlucky i suppose but don’t let it get you down. we’re a tough lot us hearties. hope things get better for you soon❤️shiona

Wait what? This is a thing? I had a stent fitted in my left coronary (it was 99% blocked) 2 years ago. Am I going to have to go for this test, too?

No you shouldn't have to go for it unless there is a problem with the stent.

Omg I’m on the waiting list to have this done, long story cut short, had my 1st stent 22 yrs ago 2nd stent 12 yrs ago. + repair to artery in my right groin. Having been having angina on and off for a few years. Angiogram 2011 told I had 50-70% blockage put on more meds

2017 angiogram told small blockages in both stents and under one if the stents, queried about the difference in the % was told must of over estimated !!

Just been referred to and spoken to-cardiologist she said she will measure blockages with a wire!

Nothing ever shows up on ecg or bloods

Please let me know how you get on with method of measuring

Hope all goes well for you
