Echo tomorrow

Have first echo tomorrow after AVR last May. Nervous as last echo put me in hospital for 7 weeks and ended with the AVR op and Crtd pacemaker being fitted. Didn't have any symptoms despite EF being below 30. Just hoping EF is up and everything is OK. Anybody have similar experience?

Hi, Chico675,

Know exactly how you feel, the first echocardiogram I had after my surgery my knees were literally knocking! Like you my 1st echo put me in in hospital for 7 weeks to, though I did have symptoms. I am nearly 4 years down the road and so far all my echoes have been ok. Due next month for this years, every time I have one the nerves kick in, just in case the pressure isn’t good!

It’s just something we have to get used to, like our meds😂 hope tomorrow goes really well I am sure you will be fine.

Stay safe best wishes Pauline

Really appreciate your reply Pauline. It is the fact that you can feel OK but have a major problem that gets me. Good to hear positive stories.

Hi there

I had an echocardiogram about 4 months ago, I was absolutely terrified, I had quiet tears all the way down on the bed and in the room, but everything was fine the staff were just so nice and chatty.

Luckily my arteries are all clear but now been diagnosed with variant and micro vascular angina which explains the clear arteries.

So even though it wasn’t the most pleasant of mornings it was no where near as bad as I thought with luckily no problems. Good luck with yours 😃

Thanks appreciate the reply. Funnily it helps to know a lot of people feel same way.

Certainly do, it was the one thing I was dreading out of any tests, I was staying in hospital at the time with chest pain and a heavy feeling, so managed to have it done while I was in there.

Glad something helps you 😃

It’s just something you have to have done when you have had Aortic valve replaced, it’s yearly and they want to know what pressure your valve is pushing out.

Good luck for tomorrow, do let us know how you get on. I know exactly how you feel as before my echocardiogram I had no idea I had heart problems! The ectopic heart beats and bit of breathlessness I put down to the aging process as otherwise I was totally fit and healthy. The diagnosis of heart failure was a complete shock.

What I've come to realise is just how lucky we all are. Until I joined this remarkable group I had no idea of all the procedures available to us hearties, to diagnose, patch us up and keep us going! It's amazing just what can be done for us nowadays.

Take care and stay safe. X

Sorry it wasn’t the echocardiogram I was petrified about it was the angiogram.

Me too, my cardiologist wanted me to have one to back up his theory that my arteries are ok. When he saw how panicked I was he decided I could have a CT scan instead! I haven't had the results back yet 🤞🤞

I was actually in hospital for a few days, they decided it would be the best thing to give them the info they needed.

I stupidly got upset 😢 in the end it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it was.

When are you expecting your CT results

in reply toFluffybee

I'm the biggest coward out, so don't blame you for getting upset, especially already being in hospital. Well done for being brave. How are you now?

I haven't had the results yet, it's been 2 weeks, I'll give my Dr a ring later this week, again putting it off 🙈🤞🙏

I’m not to bad, I’m getting a heavy feeling on my chest and an ache across my chest and shoulders on some days/nights, some days I have none which is lovely. Waiting to see my cardiologist in about 8 weeks for an update of how I’m getting on with meds etc

It’s horrible me waiting for results but make the phone call you’ll feel better afterwards so you know what’s what.

How are things with you ?

in reply toFluffybee

I'm fine thank you, just hoping it won't be too long before I see the cardiologist again and have another echocardiogram to check progress. In the meantime I'll keep taking the tablets and being thankful for all the modern developments.

Take care and I hope it's good news for you when you next see your cardiologist.
