Hi, AmeliaPond1

We have lots of partners of people who have different heart issues. We will help where we can with our experiences. If you have any worries or want a bit of information someone will be along to try and help.

Stay safe best wishes Pauline

Thank you 080311 and TRST :) Just feeling a bit shocked as hubby (aged 51) , after a few weeks of fatigue and slight chest tightness, with little bit of breathlessness (all of which was put down to Covid19, incorrectly as it now turns out!), was diagnosed yesterday with atrial flutter. Still awaiting some more tests. It is all so new to us!

When something like this occurs in our lives we all feel out of our depth, it’s a huge learning curve for us. When your husband finishes with the tests and gets an plan for his treatment then you will know what happens next, and how you can support him.

I wish you both the very best stay safe Pauline

Yes, uncertainty at the start was awful, and waiting, particularly now, makes it worse. It is just a matter of sitting it out though. There are a lot of treatments, and it is much more common than I knew - now I'm surprised how little the general public know about it.

(As my mother, an ex-nurse pointed out to me, if the NHS seems to be taking ages, it generally means you're not about to drop dead immediately).

Thank you very much Jaws66 080311 . It was a shocking thing to happen as one minute he was eating his brekkie (on Monday) and then i persuaded him to speak to our GP as the fatigue wasn't improving, and the GP sent round an oximeter, and when he heard the results he said hubby needed a paramedic. Heart rate was 150. Hubby has never had anything like this before. Para was fab and called an ambulance (so we learnt what Hot2 means in the walkie talkie language), and off he went. Young adult kids and me were running round gathering phone charger and crisps! Once we got a diagnosis, after only a couple of hours, it was already better. Now hubby needs to see a specialist. It is great to have this forum, and thank you so much for listening :)
