Teva brand

I have read on some websites people complaining about the TEVA brand. I am with a new chemist and getting a lot of medication from this brand - Bisoprolol, atorvastatin and perindopril . Is it safe? And what problems ,if any, do people experience with the brand? Thank u.

My current box of Atorvastatin is made by them. No issues whatsoever. Where did you read this? Teva are a major pharmaceutical manufacturer.

So is my Atorvastatin. There were some issues years ago some revolving around patents.

None of my medications are from the manufacturer you mention. The only issue I had with perindopril was the dosage I was taking, but this has since been changed and I am stable once again.

I believe there was a fire at one of their factories a few years ago that created shortages of some of their tablets as my hubby preferred some of their tablets - they were s better shape to swallow! No other issues!

Hi there, I was started on max dose statins a year ago due to finding familial hypercholesterolemia which resulted in CABG. I was given Teva brand and it agrees with me. I know people who have been changed from one statin brand to another as a matter of what is in stock at the chemist at the time of prescription and have found that they have had reactions to a different brand from the one they’re used to so as I don’t appear to have problems with Teva brand (bearing in mind I have reactions with some medications In the past) the Dr has noted on my prescriptions that I prefer the brand.

Teva produce more than one type of statin. For instance they supply Atorvastatin, Simvastatin and Rouvastatin and may supply others.

Before my sudden, shock illness and diagnosis last year I hadn’t taken these types of drugs before so am pretty ignorant to the range of certain meds. However, Im on atorvastatin which is what they started me on in hospital. I have heard of simvastatin but to be honest, in my naievity I wasn’t sure if the others were simply brands. All I do know, however, is due to having reactions with other meds in the past, if I find a brand that suits me, I tend to try to stick to it. Also, as I have a relative who was hospitalised due to a reaction with a changed brand of meds (apparently, due to the different contents on the coating on the alternative brand) and some friends who have had problems, my GP is really good. It’s the pharmacist I have to contact and remind each time - even though there is now a note on my prescription she still sometimes sends the wrong ones. Thanks for letting me know. Take care and stay safe.
