Backpacking Hi all, I've not been on the forum for a while and have just had to have another procedure to sort out a 'rogue' lead on my ICD. So unfortunately am back to a restricted movement regime for a few weeks ☹.
After rehab etc, I would like to resume multi day hikes (Caminos) and wondered if anyone has any experience of wearing a backpack after having an ICD fitted. I'm thinking predominantly about location of shoulder strap being close to site of ICD.
Any input gratefully received
Frank

Hi, I take it by your reference to caminos that you are in Spain, I am inland Costa del Sol and had my ICD implanted 3.5 years ago. I run a couple of walking groups, not several day hikes but between 10 and 15 kms. For the first few months after the implant I was unable to wear a backpack and opted for a Fanny Pack, but I am only carrying drinks, food, waterproof and First Aid kit. I have now gone back to the backpack but don't use the chest strap, I find that then the shoulder strap can sit to the side of the implant. This may not be an option of course with a heavier backpack, if that is the case then I suggest a sherpa !
