Bisoprolol might worsen COVID-19 infection?

Some media reports and publications have suggested that medicines to treat high blood pressure might worsen COVID-19 infection.

I would like to know if there is any evidence as regards Bisoprolol?

Many thanks

There has been no link between bisoprolol and the virus. You may wish to read this post from Helen BHF admin on the reports surrounding heart meds and covid 19.

On BBC News Questions last night that was one of the questions asked. The answer was it would not pose any additional risk for Covid-19

The original article discussed ACE Inhibitors and ARBs, and stated in was a hypothesis. Stopping BP medication at any time could have serious consequences!

The original article related to ACE Inhibitors and ARBs, please see the link below from the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust which states "There is no sound scientific basis or evidence to support this speculation "

Hi mapgo

Is your increase significant 2.5mg or more ?? Everything I have read says it is not of any consequence with regards to Covid 19
