Just received that news too on my mobile, Michael. Although not surprising, it is somewhat worrying for the country and especially for the pregnant Carrie Symonds. Hope he makes a good recovery.
Yes, it is totally unpredictable. The person I mentioned was taken to hospital yesterday is already home whilst a landscape gardener a few miles away has died of it.
Good and bad news there then, Michael. It’s all very scary. Although both hubby and I are in self-isolation, him with cancer and me with heart and kidney disease, he has to go to surgery for hormone implant today and I’m trying not to freak out about it! At least the pharmacy kindly delivered his medication today, so one blessing. A couple of neighbours have offered but don’t like them putting themselves at risk on our account. One lovely neighbour has just climbed over the wall and given our lawn it’s first cut!

Following on from my post on Perspective. I wonder if it matters very much where you fit on the social scale, what are your chances of survival should you catch the Virus. I am not talking bout the Homeless as it is very obvious they would be at a greater risk or would they ? You need to be pretty tough to sleep out on the street in winter !! No doubt this will be a project for some analysis later.

Just a thought the average age of death for a homeless man in 2018 in England & Wales was 45 years and a women 43 years.

When I was much younger a long time ago the only homeless person I ever knew/saw was what we then called a Tramp. I didn't know the figure for dying homeless, but having a Psychologist in the family thought it would be a good study for after.

Unfortunately, there is a transition to a street lifestyle. Milkfairy, is right that MH is one sequence, however, there are multiple exclusions that result in someone becoming homeless. These included, substance abuse, becoming anxious or depressed, survival shoplifting, engagement in survival sex work, being the victim of a violent crime, sofa-surfing, and spending time in prison. These traumatic experiences are indicative of deepening problems bringing people closer to extreme exclusion and street lifestyles. Homelessness is the epitome of social exclusion.
My only hope is that Local Authorities can find them a place of safety to stay during this pandemic.

Exactly. Ex service personnel make up a significant number of homeless sleeping on the streets which supports your thought about lack of access to mental health care.
There is not a lot of reason for the number of ex servicemen on the streets. They are one group who do have a considerable back up group working on their behalf. I know they re there difficult to understand why.

PTSD, divorce, bereavement, inability to re enter civilian life. Young men from chaotic lives who found stability and meaning in the services and then, years later, could not cope when living alone for the first time in their adult lives. Drink and drugs as an escape ..... there are many reasons.
My eldest son ex Royal Marine, Younger son ex RAF then RM Afghanistan 2 tours. Dad ex Royal Navy we all settled down, both sons went on to University after completing their time in the Service. I know lots of current and ex servicemen it is a very very complex picture. Now this is going to sound very odd but actually the numbers of ex service men on the street are few When you think of the 1000s who have served and the 100s who leave every year.

He was in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers.
God Bless him. He got killed when he was 24 years old. My Parents never got over the shock of losing him..
I've got his Green Beret, his Army Belt ,his 3 stripes and a cigarette case that he had in his pocket when he got killed.He didn't smoke, he used to keep a little bit of money in it .If somebody offered me a million Pounds for it, 💰💵💴💷i would say

I agree,there are so many different reasons why some people turn to drink and drugs as a way of escape.
I know some that have self harmed.
Really good people,but they hit a downward spiral and need a lot of help and support to climb back up. I feel so sorry for them. There are a lot of homeless people in Newport. There are also a lot of buildings that have been empty for a number of years.. Perhaps some of these homeless people would be able to get a better life, if the Local Authoraties adapted these empty buildings and made them into flats.
Even if it was somewhere safe that they could stay until this Coronavirus was over with.

Yes there is a lack of mental health care. I had a telephone appointment with a mental health nurse 3 weeks ago. By the time she finished talking to me, i felt worse than before she rang. OMG .She kept asking me if I was going to get rid of myself,
How would i do it. Would i take an overdose. Or do i think that i could hang myself etc. She could hear that I was getting myself all worked up.
But at the end of the conversation. She said to me ( When you decide to do it. Will you ring me 1st. ).
Then i lost my temper. I said.
( No i wouldn't b....y ring you 1st.
If I'm gonna top myself i wouldn't ring any b....r, id just do it ).
I've just been put in a Pain Phsycologist Clinic. to see if they can help me in any way. This is what the phone call was about.
But she was a Psychiatric Nurse.
She needs to see a Phsychiatŕist.
My Pain Phsycologist appointment was in 2 week's time, but because of the Coronavirus it's been cancelled.
When I do get to see the Pain Phsycologist, im gonna tell her exactly what that idiotic Nurse was saying to me.🤯🤪 Imagine if she went to see somebody with PTSD.
Or even someone living on the streets through no fault of their own. She would have been the last person they wanted to see. I can tell you in all honesty. If she had been in my house, I would have kicked her up the arse and kicked her out of my house.

I am sorry you are living with pain in your life too.
My vasospastic angina pain because of the lack of knowledge about the condition has been frequently mismanaged.
I was diagnosed originally in 2016 with PTSD by 2 psychologists after 4 years of my acute pain episodes being not treated appropriately
I have had some really good support from my psychologist since then only for this to be undone during my last hospital admission in November when I was exposed to too many of my triggers.
Pain and how it effects people is so under recognised.
I hope you are able to get the support you need.

I've been in hospital twice since Christmas. Im so fed up of the lot of it. Trouble is that people can't see pain, not unless you've got a broken arm or leg etc.
But when you're in Chronic Pain
every single day, it wears not only your body out ,but in your mind as well. You Take Care and Stay Safe.

Confusing to me especially as Sunak has two young daughters, and at the time it was just Boris and Carrie. Of course, now she's heavily pregnant. But it's still confusing.

I believe until the positive test result, the PM was using an office in No10 ground floor - SkyNews is reporting the office has been sealed off until it can be deep cleaned.
The PM is now in self-isolation in his No11 flat where aides bring meals, tea, and the Red Boxes, put the delivery by the door, knock - and then flee before the PM opens the door.
I saw that sprint of Cummings - the presenter thought perhaps he was running to avoid contact with anyone owing to the possibility he too has symptoms, my thought was he was running to avoid the presenter.
How many interconnecting doors and secret passageways are there? Cue - Chancellor steps through back of wardrobe!
