Corona Virus now, WWII then...

Given how some many comparisons seem to be made between the situation now and WWII, I would summise that we are a way off the 'Berlin Airflift' or 'Dunkirk Spirit' in terms of desire ot overcome the almost impossible.

Flights to get people home or do what is necessary to save lives seems to be such an enormous ask for groups of people.

I miss the days when people operated with common sense and a sense of community instead of on the basis of what their rights were!

There's no shortage of Churchillian rhetoric from BoJo but leadership, decisiveness and action seems in short supply. There will be a day of reckoning for him and his party. This is no time for slogan politics.

There's maybe a cultural shift which leads to an assumption of 'entitlement'. But even more concerning is the evident inability or unwillingness of too many people to absorb, understand and act upon a simple instruction to socially distance, stay at home and maybe avoid a life threatening disease.

For those isolated abroad, there's probably been ample time to take action and responsibility for getting home. Nice to maybe complete your holiday, but to expect resource and taxpayers money to fund your repatriation? There will of course always be valid exceptions so I confess to sweeping generalities.

There are always exceptions ot generalities - the behaviour in WWII was not as portrayed in the films and TV shows either, but I think we are singing from the same hymn sheet.
