Not directly relevant to the forum but relevant to the current health crisis. A few minutes ago Prince Charles tested positive for the Coronavirus. The Dutchess of Cornwall tested negative. We wish him a speedy and full recovery.

How lucky he received such prompt testing when NHS workers and the police are still denied them.

What a messed up country.

I'm sure he will have the best medical care available in Scotland.

To silly foggy

No need for the sarcastic way you presented your personal view.

Stay Safe

Apologies for my sarcastic tone for those that hold the view that Prince Charles being tested promptly is ok whilst frontline NHS and police cannot get tested is ok.

Ps. My husband and I work for the police. We can even get hold of PPE. One small bottle of hand sanitiser.

When we start falling over in large numbers because of the lack of testing and basic protective equipment, maybe my point will be more widely appreciated

Perhaps and just maybe our Charles felt a little unwell and like anyone else presenting was possibly tested hence the diagnosis. Hope he and his family as well as everyone else in the world keeps well at this uncertain time.

people cannot get tests but prince Charles will one day be king so I think that’s why it is like that most probably all over the world anyway hope he has a good recovery and everyone else who is suffering from the virus

I live in Scotland so perhaps our news sources are better informed than most - HRH did not 'jump the queue'. He became unwell Sunday and after going through the newly established channels (online then telephone triage) he was tested.

Our understanding is his symptoms were deemed significant enough to cause NHS Grampian to order him to be tested. The Duchess was tested owing to her being in the same household - her test has come back negative.

It’s worrying if he had contact with his mum and dad, especially his Dad

It is worrying but apparently he was last briefly with HRM the 12th and hasn't been anywhere near her or Prince Philip since. The official statement is HRM and Prince Philip both continue well.

Wife's a nurse, daughter suspected Coronavirus.

NHS wont test as not 'serious'. Wife had to self isolate from work for 2 weeks as cant say if is, or isn't.

We live in Aberdeen. Cant be only ones in same situation.

Clearly one rule for the rich and another for us mere plebs.

This is just one of about 600 tweets on one twitter post. He has said himself he has ‘mild case’. Shouldn’t we be testing ALL our most vulnerable or those at the frontline of this crisis?

in reply toSillyfroggy

I agree sillyfroggy. We should be tested both for it and if with have had it.

NHS staff are asking to be tested so they can return to work and not have to self isolate unnecessarily.

I am looking forward to the test that screens to see if you have had the the virus.

I agree everyone should be tested and have treatment but I’m wondering what we can do to ask for this and be heard

I don't know why your daughter hasn't been tested - your wife is a nurse so presumably is a good judge and is probably furious (and you are) your daughter hasn't been. I think anyone with genuine symptoms like your daughter, and all NHS staff regardless of symptoms (or none) should be tested, the NHS staffers routinely.

I know HRH has said it's mild (and let's be honest, he does seem possessed of rude good health) but I wonder - is he downplaying to avoid the public panicking at the thought, or is it a case of he is the next King and NHS Grampian didn't want to take the chance of him having it, going without testing, possibly spreading it through the household, and possibly becoming seriously unwell - at which point the good reputation NHS Grampian enjoys being shredded to utter bits at letting the future King become critical?

I hope your daughter doesn't have it, and if she does, that she only has a mild case.

I live in Scotland also. My relative is a nurse, developed symptoms on Monday but can’t get/ wasn’t offered testing, they have to stay off work for 7 days at least. Their partner is also a nurse and has to now self isolate/ can’t go to work for 14 days, again can’t access/ wasn’t offered testing.

It’s easy to say that someone met the “ clinical criteria “ when there is no transparency regarding what the criteria is!

There is also the issue of second home owners specifically being told to stay away from/ not come to the Highlands of Scotland because local services are only designed to cope with the existing population.

I’m finding watching the news scary each day.

I limit myself to morning news and the press conference. The media are into over analysis. The snippets I put up are because someone I know keeps texting and WhatsApp'ING. What worries me is that too many do not get distancing and isolating! ☹️

The lack of tests is because of original government policy about "herd immunity" which they changed about 10 days ago. Test, test, test has worked in other countries. The intention of my post was to say nobody is safe from this. I have a lot of time for Prince Charles and I respect his views on architecture, agriculture and the countryside.

Put in perspective it is only a couple of tests when millions are needed for NHS staff and those with symptoms!
