Think before hitting the send key, 'Is it helping'

I recently posted this response. In these difficult times for many I merely offer it up as appropriate at this time. 'How about people on this site who are offering opinions, putting their professional qualifications to make those assumptions next to their submission. That will allow people, like me, to distinguish between the knowledgable and those armchair professional virologists who use social media sites too opine about things they know bugger all about. I'm happy to listen to the former and absolutely not waste my time on the latter. Perhaps the administrators of the site have a responsibility regarding this in what is a national crisis'.

The purpose of this forum is to allow people with heart issues to get support from other people who have cardiovascular issues.

None of us are either professionals or even armchair professionals. The rules of the site clearly state that we should not suggest radical diets, stopping medication, suggesting alternative medications, or offer opinions on medical issues - either diagnosis or treatment - in fact if people do make these posts the members readily report them as inappropriate.

As I say, this is a support forum, for qualified medical information people should be consulting their GP or reading the subject matter on reputable site such as the NHS or the BHF.

The problem is that a hypothesis ends up becoming a fact on social media. Information about issues such as Ibuprofen (although it is a no no for the majority of us) and ACE inhibitors are under review by BHF professionals currently. Nobody should change any medication, or dose thereof, without consulting their GP or cardiologist.

In this forum most of us give experiences and try to help each other as to medication no none suggests stopping or using any other and we all know in the forum to consult the bhf nurses or cardiologists with illness or medication

I come to this forum to compare my experiences and get support. Some members are very knowledgeable and some not so. But none of them are going to, or at least, shouldn’t be dealing with you as if they are medically competent to do so.
