Just a quick question. I’m coming up to 3 months post op after aortic valve replacement. I occasionally get dizzy/woozy spells which really worry me. As time has gone on the frequency and duration of these spells has decreased. However I find them very scary and unnerving. Has anyone any advice, similar episodes etc.

Are you due a check up any time soon? I'd be pushing for a review in case your heart is missing beats or there is an issue with the valve.
Dizzy, woozy spells were what took my Dad to hospital that brought up the need for his AVR. He only had the op on Thursday but they've discovered he has heart block meaning he requires a pacemaker fitting - he currently has an external pacemaker fitted but every time they take it off to test it he has fainty spells.
I think you need to get checked out a.s.a.p.

I had an aortic valve replacement about 11 months ago.... (plus a mitral valve repair and an aortic root replacement). I used to get some dizziness but now this has almost entirely gone. I am not sure that your dizziness=my dizziness, maybe yours is worse than mine was (maybe not). I used to not be able to bend down to do my shoe laces - now this is not a problem. I used to find myself a little dizzy when walking sometimes... but this seems to have faded. So the message is.... while it may indicate a problem your dizziness might just be fading away slowly as your heart learns afresh to manage the demands your body places on it.
