Don’t know ifI have asked this question but how do you get round increased heart rate after using inhalers. I was told by nurse to use it everyday as my peak flow had gone down. Used it for two weeks but it’s unnerving when heart rate jumps up and takes time to go back down. I believe they can cause this but not sure what to do I am worried my ,lungs won’t be able to fight off anything that may come. Will just using it once twice a day still work. Seeing nurse on Wednesday I a,ready get palpitations

Inhalers
Not sure what type inhalers your use ,,, I’ve got asthma and use fostair , & salbutamol,, they can increase chance of heart rate rises a bit ,,, I’ve got PAF ,WHICH IS GERTING WORSE , but stil need to use these inhalers ,are you on meds for af or anything else ,
I use brown one Clenil Modulite and salbutamol too but no other meds for heart at present.
Your brown one will be twice a day I assume ,and blue as and when needed ,,, but too much use can trigger heart to palpate, so only use blue when required ,,, ie before exercise ,after it , or when you feel you need it , best to go see asthma nurse chat with her ,,,
The brown one, usually a corticosteroid of one type or another is used to treat the underlying cause while the blue one is a reliever and is usually taken as needed. You should take the brown one regularly every day and probably twice a day (depending on the drug). Salbutamol (the blue one) is a beta agonist - it acts on the beta receptors in the lungs to smooth the muscle to make breathing easier. Unfortunately for us humans, we also have a lot of beta receptors in our hearts and the beta agonist acts on those too and increases your heart rate (there is a lot of good stuff on the Internet if you want to delve into the full biochemistry of it all). As with all meds, the amount your heart reacts to the drug varies from one person to the next. If it is causing you a lot of issues you could talk to your GP about trying a different drug but be aware that if you are asthmatic and need an emergency reliever, beta agonists are very much the drug of choice.
The bue & brown inhalers made me feel quite ill, increased my heart rate etc everytime I used them - had to call 999 (only time I have had to) & the gp they called out told me to stop using them & prescribed a different one which I think?? Was in powder form. Eventually didn't need them as asthma according to different gp was in fact bronchitus
