Bad Heart? Painful Joints? Read this !

OK, I have HCM, CRT Pacemaker and a range of drugs including Entresto. On paper I should have been feeling great, but I always felt rough, hangover, rough and to top it my joints ached, and my wedding ring finger developed a painful joint which slowly got worse.

I was blaming the hangover symptoms on my drugs. When I eventually mentioned it to my Doctor she booked me in for some blood tests. Turns out I had Gout – bad gout. My Urea levels were up around 800 and my inflammation markers were also up. My Kidney function was depressed.

The cause of the Gout was my Diuretics, draining water from my body but leaving my blood high in Urea and its the Urea crystals in the joints that cause the pain and inflammation.

It took about 3 months to sort out my Gout with Allopurinol and as my Urea levels came down my inflammation markers and kidney function improve. I now feel great and very relieved that my hangover symptoms were not down to my heart issues.

Hi I am an 81 yr lady with quite a few aged medical problems as you would expect. One being CHD, AF , Gout, aged joint replacements to name a few. Having taken long term Frusemide I developed Gout which was missed, God what pain.due to many different GP changes, it was picked up by a visiting Locam who put me on daily allopurinol 300me daily. read dusted the diuretic and keeps an eye ( and me ) on regular blood tests. I am doing ok .so I juggle a diet to suit Divaticular, AF, Gout, CHF Ageing Joint replacements ,!!!! well I eat a bit of every thing to keep a healthy balanced mind and retain my attitude off for a weekly GIN and Tonic keep positive SHEILA,
