Does coronary artery spasm commonly cause very light headedness, or is an irregular rythm more likely to be the cause.

Hi Goldenheart

Have you seen a Neurologist?

I experience neurological symptoms due to vasospasms in my brain with my vasospastic angina episodes.

Hi milkfairy, no neurologist appt. I did get diagnosed with a severe thunderclap headache around 2 year ago, had a cat scan after extreme head pains, the dctr said it looked like areas there had gone into a spasm. The worst pain, and frightening thing, ive ever had. The scan showed no bleed or anything furtive.

I was referred to a Neurologist who specialises in headaches

I get an ice pick head ache behind my left eye with my chest pain. I agree it's horrible. Also light and sound cause me pain.

The treatment for vasospasms in the brain are the same as for those in the coronary arteries

Calcium blockers avoid beta blockers as they make the spasms worse.

Ok, thankyou for the advice. In your experience, does a coronary spasm cause light headedness in general. Its so hard to define whats going on, ive read many posts on in dividual symptoms, but people mostly mention chest pains and the breathlessness.

I get a sensation of the air being squeezed out of my lungs and feeling sick with my vasospasms.

The one thing for sure about MVA and Vasospastic angina is that we all seem to have our own version of the condition.

It maybe feeling light headed is one of your particular symptoms

Would it be worth asking for a 24 hour ECG monitor, or are your attacks too infrequent for them reliably to be captured in this way? I think it would be useful to have an attack recorded on an ECG to see if it shows anything.

Hi jonathan, yes ive had lots of monitors but the attacks are infrequent. I also do my own recordings via alive cor,on a tablet,at home. The light headed episodes usually occur when im out and about. After one bad one,on arriving home i did capture a fib. Hence ,unsure if it was a fib that triggered the near fainting, or a coronary spasm when out, that triggered a fib once at home.
