Raised BNP blood test last summer so GP referred me back to cardiology. Consultant Put me on furusomide . I am already on aspirin. Bisoprolol. Artovastatin.ramipril.isosorbide.nicorandol.and GTN spray. Had another echo which showed ejection fraction gone up to 55 from previously 40 and no significant valvular pathology. Improved from the last study. But on the letter to my GP it says I have symptoms of PND and orthopnoea why don’t they tell you what all this means

Hi Cazz1954

I also wish doctors didn't write in code using abbreviations. Abbreviations can mean different things in different contexts.

PND can mean Post natal depression or Paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnoea

Did you tell the doctor you feel breathless at night time and need to sit up to sleep?

Perhaps ring the BHF helpline line and talk to one of the Cardiac nurses on Monday or go and see your GP for a full explanation.

Well thankfully I’m too old for postnatal depression. And yes he asked me if I was breathless at night and I said yes. Probably more sense to speak to my GP

Ask them. I do and usually get a very full and helpful answer.

Yes thank you your right. I will ask them. It’s just frustrating when your not getting answers to why you feel rubbish isn’t it
