Hi.

I’m still trying to get some answers so I have been looking at my discharge notes which state Echocardiography shows post PCI LV Function at LVEF>50. I’m still awaiting a consult with cardiologist to ask him many questions but while I’m waiting can anyone explain the above?

Thanks very much in advance R x

It means your left ventricle ejection fraction (i.e. the amount of blood pumped out at every heart beat) is normal.

This is sometimes confusing. Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction is the amount of blood that’s pushed around the body in each cycle. So the ideal isn’t 100%. In fact that would be very bad! Normal range starts around 55% and the measurement is so approximate that over 50% is good news.

Thank you. I was slightly concerned as I didn’t know what the 50 was out of! I assumed it was a percentage so thought 50 didn’t sound too good as only half as what it could be...if you get what I mean! 🤷‍♀️

Hi

I was told by a Radiologist Dr this week that EF is approximately +-5% as it has been said on here before they draw a line around the ventricle and do the measurement all a little crude, his words not mine.

MRI is a little bit more accurate but only by a very small margin !!!

Regards
