We are constantly advised to eat a Mediterranean Diet but a lot of fruit contains cyanogenic compounds, which turn into cyanide in the body or arsenic.
Following an internet search of the foods that I should eat and the Mediterranean Diet. I discovered that most of the food that is good for us contains small traces of cyanide (cyanogenic compounds) or arsenic. Broccoli, Cherries, Apricots, Peaches,Apples, plums, Pears, Almonds all contain cyanogenic compounds. Rice and Wine, contain Arsenic.
Cigarettes contain cyanide and arsenic. Red wine grapes have thicker skins and take up larger amounts of heavy metals than white grapes. Could those poisons in minute quantities protect the heart in some way? Just a thought from a layman. Could this also explain why the French have a lower rate of heart problems?
Anyone have any thoughts?
