Firstly can I just say how thankful I am to have found this site. Yesterday I went through my results with my doctor form my echogram. So my bicuspid valve has narrowed slightly. I’m having my cholesterol checked today, I’m being referred to the cardiologist and have been advised to start a Mediterranean diet. Does any one know where I’d find some good recipes. FYI, I’ve only ever had cod or pollock so I need slowly introducing to some nice fish.
Use this link to get an overview and then click on the recipe link at the bottom of the page. This will get you started. Try salmon and haddock as part of your fishy diet. A tin of mackerel in tomato sauce on toast is a quick way of getting a potion of fish in every week - and very cheap!
If worried about cholesterol avoid sugar and flour as they increase small dense LDL (actually they increase Triglycerides which increases small dense LDL).
British Heart Foundation have a magazine which I think you can request on their online website - full of interesting articles & pullout recipe section. Worth taking a look out. Someone maybe able to provide a link for you
Thank you all for your replies, last night I had haddock, potatoes and Mediterranean veg 😊 just had my cholesterol results which have all come back as normal x
