Hi, just a quick question? If you have palpatations how long do you have your driving licence suspended for?

Also is a heart murmer classed as palpatations. On my echo, I was told I had a very slight murmer, it was described as, a drop in the ocean, I have a very minor leak in a valve.

Thanks

Well you have to report if you have an arythmia but I have AF and they don’t need information regarding that. Confusing I know

Give them a ring

Hi have a look on the DVLA web site or call them, they were very helpful to me - good luck

Husband and I both reported af to be on safe side but no problem , just allowed to continue driving as no faints or dizziness. Said we should inform insurers. They were totally at a loss, no box to put info in if driving not restricted by DVLA . So just put a note somewhere on line.

I was advised by consultant that I was allowed to drive with palpations as long as I had no other symptoms whilst behind the wheel. (I got written confirmation off him just be be sure)

You can drive with palpitations as long as you've had no syncope episodes, as far as I'm aware you don't have to report it to anyone. My husband has a whole list of heart problems but the only one he had to declare was his pacemaker, he didn't have his licence taken away.

Thanks all for the replies, I'll have a chat with my GP next time I'm in, which thankfully is coming up to a year since I had the pre echo visit.

I worry in case my travel insurance will rocket, I live in Spain for 5 months of the year, I also worry about losing my licence, in case I need a job driving while I'm here. But last time I spoke to the GP I was told nothing to worry about, yet I lie awake at night and do nothing but worry, sorry for the mad ramble.

In Spain you will still be covered by EHIC until the end of the year and they have said they will continue to cover brits from thereon . If you are a professional driver - HGV, etc, you will depend on your annual medical results.

Not what you're looking for?
