Hello and welcome to the forum! Ramapril is an ACE inhibitor. These are known for causing a cough in a minority of people. Have you had a cold. What I have found (I am on Lisinopril) is although it does not cause a cough when I get a cold the cough hangs on for a few weeks longer than previously. Have you had a cold or virus recently?
As regards blood pressure you do not want it raised long term. You need to speak to your GP. Often adding a low dose of a beta blocker or a CCI (calcium channel inhibitor) will do the trick as BP is reduced by two mechanisms whereas just increasing the dose of a single medication has deminishing returns.
Hi. I was on Ramipril 5mg once daily but it was increased to 5mg twice daily as my blood pressure was high. It seems to be a lot better now. I also have a cough but I have Copd so coughing can be troublesome because of this. So increasing the Ramipril has helped me with the high blood pressure. I take one in morning and one at night. Hope this helps.
I was on Ramipril which is the flagship NHS tablet apparently as with alot off people I had a chronic caugh at night time which was very irritable for me and my wife particularly so changed to losartan which works well for me. Only downfall is like my Bisropolol with lasartan causes upset stomach and weight gain around the stomach. Hope this helps Phil.
