Hi there

I am a 53 year old builder who has always been very active and lived a fairly healthy lifestyle. I had a heart attack on 19th May, complete shock and had 2 stents fitted. Thankfully no damage to heart and I was able to return to work after 6 weeks. I have had aching across the back of my shoulders and discomfort some days worse than others. Over the past few months I have used the gtn spray a few times. Still get breathless when I bend over. For the past 3 weeks however I have not been feeling “right” discomfort and aching seems worse should I be concerned that 7 months down the line I feel like this or am I just experiencing a bad few weeks and this will pass. It’s the not knowing what to do as I don’t feel ill but just not right - I don’t want to waste people’s valuable time but should I be concerned that I might have another HA or that something is wrong with the stents, or carry on and wait for it to settle down again ?

Hi Smiffy. Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. First thing I’d say is that there’s no such thing as a heart attack that doesn’t cause damage. It might be very little damage and it might be so small you don’t notice but it’s there. Are you pushing yourself harder now? Have you stopped warming up if you’re being active? Does the chest pain start when you’re exercising or at rest? I’d be inclined to make an appointment with the doctor rather than leave it If you’re not feeling right. Could well be nothing but better to safe.

Yes hi guys this is what I am doing. I've had pains the last year quite a bit and I'm still tired after work, that I can't go to gym right now yet . so I had my cardiologist resubmit me to cardiac rehab so I can get strong again, as in still tired and worry about the pain in chest but been checked and nothing has come up. I just want to get back to the gym but best to do it supervised. I'd advise you to go back into cardiac rehab as well. It's been just about 2 years since I've had mine and I still get exausted from physical work and going to the gym. I'm 44. :)
