I had my HA while Cycling the 4700 miles around the coastline of Britain in 2017. I did complete it in 119 pedalling days over the course of two years. I did also stop for a hip replacement on route to go with the two replacement knees. This year my challenge is to cycle the shortest distance possible through every county in Britain and busk with my ukulele banjo for ( Guild dogs for the blind) in each one. If you see me in your county please put a coin or two in my box. It was my birthday on 29th of October 2019. I was 68, and to celebrate I cycled 68 miles that day. I hope you all have a healthy 2020. A spot of exercise for 2020 😊
That’s brilliant and brave,so do you recommend cycling after a heart attack, I’m thinking of having a go. I had a heart attack just over a year ago.never been on a bike before. And I’m 65.
Well it’s a non impact sport for one and non load bearing. Get a nice bike with lots of gears to help you, even buy a electric assisted bike, as they take strain out of hills. Choose a nice flat road or cycleway to start with and just do 2 miles to start with. Then gradually build on that. Great for shopping instead of taking the car. May I ask roughly where you live?
On the Somerset Dorset border
Have a look on the Sustrans web site for various cycleways near you. Perhaps I will busk in your town fairly early on in my trip as I intend to start in Bude and head east out of Cornwall and across Devon to Kent then London and head west again.
Yes I have, Should of started years ago, changing gear has been a problem and the hills but I’m getting there, At least it’s very quiet on the roads in Somerset at the moment, are you able to get out on your bike at all? Are the roads busy up your way. I don’t know how long this will be going on for do you,
