I know this isn’t heart related, just looking for a bit of advice. I’ve got occipital neuralgia ( sharp head pain cause by occipital nerve at the back of the head) and I was put on a two week trial of indometacin which is a really strong NSAID, the tablets worked and I was told by my neurologist not to use them for more than two weeks as there is a risk of internal bleeding and they can damage the kidneys. I went back to my GP as the meds worked so I was expecting to be put on a different medication however she has prescribed me more indometacin and she kept saying I need to be careful on them. I also take a stomach protector with it. Just a bit concerned about being on them long term as I do have a history of stomach issues in the past. Any advice would be great thanks 😊

Your call. I’m facing this dilemma, having been prescribed Omeprazole for another condition. I don’t feel I have any choice but to take it in my situation, but I know it affects absorption and can lead to needing more meds and vitamin deficiencies.

Omeprazole is the stomach protector I’m on as well. It’s just confusing as I don’t really know what to do because I dont want to stop using the medication as my pain will return yet I don’t want to take them because of the risks!

If you take them just make sure you are monitored for vitamin b12 and d deficiency and folate regularly. Hubby has been on them for 12 years and now has b12 deficiency and takes folic acid and d3 as well
