I have a leaking aorta valve plus pacemaker fitted. I need to know as to whether taking St Johns Wort or Quite Life tablets would be harmful to me ?? Eric.

Eric, nobody here can give you a definitive answer. You need to ask your GP. I know my cardiogy department disprove of St John's Wort quite strongly! Anyone with a heart condition needs to check with their GP with respect to any supplement.

Good morning Ericrw,

I agree with Michael, it’s important for you to discuss this with your GP, cardiologist or pharmacist. However, I can say that I’m on a lot of drugs and many of them mention St John’s Wort specifically to be avoided as it interferes with how the drugs are able to work. Also your GP might be able to prescribe something more appropriate or offer counselling, etc, to help you come to terms with what’s going on with you.

Hope this helps. Best wishes.
