Been suffering with atrial fibrillation for a while and consultant recommended ablation as the next step. Had the procedure 10 days ago. The doctor advised me that they were using the cryto or freezing method to ablate the pulmonary veins. The procedure went well, but when I arrived home from hospital I had two problems.
1. I developed a chesty cough, and over the 10 days have just coughed continuously. I consulted my GP yesterday who said my chest was clear and I should just let it ride out but go back in a week or so if it got worse or didnt clear up.
2. Although i have mild acid reflux problems, my daily omeprazole tablet keeps it at bay, but again since arriving home, the reflux has been quite bad and i am continuously burping particularly particularly after eating. The notes I received from the hospital advised that this can affect 1 in 10 patients short term, but occasionally in some cases is a long term problem. Unfortunately the notes dont define short term, so I'm wondering how long I should put up with this before going back to my GP.
Just wondering if anyone else here has experience of these problems after ablation?
