I have just been diagnosed with Atrial Flutter after tightness of the chest & a heart rate of 170bpm. I have been perscibed Dixocin, Bisoprolol & Apixaban. I am waiting to have a 24 hour heart monitor fitted & an echocardiogram. There seems to be lots of information about Atrial Fibrillation but not Atrial Flutter. My main concern is what my lifestyle should be now. Should I be living normally or taking care in what I do. I am 69 years old.

Thank you for all the links you gave me. I have found them really interesting & knowing more about the condition & my heart in general has helped to set my mind at rest. Thank you Auiron
At 69 years of age I was in a similar position to you. I had no symptoms other than being aware of 150bpm and continued with 3 times per week at the gym. i had no medication apart from apixaban prior to a cardioversion that restored normal heart rate. unfortunately that was 41 bpm but still have no symptoms and continue with the gym. @ bears later everything still ok. It seems that hr, ef etc are not the full story.
Thank you, pablojack. I have been fortunate not to have had any previous experience of heart problems, either with myself of family members. Other people's experiences & concerns are really helpful. Thank you.
