Jaw out of lone

Can anyone help with this one, my jaw over the last year has been squinting to the one side. Dentist and orthodontist say it’s TMJ ( temporomansibular joint disfunction) I’ve been told to get a plate for grinding in my sleep. Has anyone else experienced this and what is the outcome!

I haave a clicking jaw so any dentisstry work is a little fraught as get jaw ache and it feels it might stick open. Have to jiggle to close it. My dentist is great.

Do you mean something like a tooth guard for nights?

There are daily exercises you can do as well as well as general relaxation exercises.

Hi, I use a Dentek dental guard. Costs about £25 from Boots. It does stop me grinding my teeth in my sleep. Google to see physio exercises for TMJ to "straighten" your jaw, they work! Good luck.

Yes, after many years of orthodontic braces caused my TMJ, I have a cross bite. My current South African dentist agrees

Go to an osteopath, I’ve had really good result and haven’t had it lock since. You may need a few sessions.

There is also an exercise: open mouth and curl tongue, open and close jaw

You can’t wear a mouth plate that adjusts position, the one recommended is just so you don’t grind teeth, seek better opinion.
