Hi all, first post here, I'm 31 and was diagnosed with hypertension a couple of months ago and have been on ramipril 5mg while they try and work out what is wrong or causing it (if anything). The last month or so I have had horrible stiff and sore achilles, sore to touch and slightly swollen, when I wake in the morning and try to walk it is so painful and I feel like I am about 75! the pain eases into the day but it hurts when I get up from my desk. I have just switched from Ramipril to Tildiem this weekend (as they need to test my kidney hormones) so I will monitor it to see if it changes. Do you think this is a side effect of the meds or another problem? I've not over exercised and it seems strange it is in both backs of ankles?

Hello and welcome to the forum! Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor. The most common side effect of them is a tickley cough. I have not see problems with the Achilles tendon or similar problems documented. At a similar age to you I got tendonitis in both knees out of the blue for no apparent reason. It took some months to fully clear. If worried see your GP.
I note you are having kidney tests. BP medication is particularly important as hypertension may damage the kidneys. Good luck!
