I am working on lowering mine at the moment following a Mediterranean diet and sticking to chicken and fish. What do you mean by sky high - the actual number is important.

Mine is high too for years. I have a sweet tooth but I do try. Sometimes I bake something and cut down on sugar etc., but my mother has always had elevated cholesterol - 9. something at one stage. She can't take the medication has a sweet tooth but also eats plenty of salads etc and wait for it is 91 and no heart problems. God bless her.❤

Thanks molly encouraging for those with high cholesterol so good to hear about your mum! But it raises the question of whether high cholesterol is really the issue it’s made out be!

I agree. I read where one heart surgeon noticed that most of his patients who needed bypass surgery did not have high cholesterol.

Have a look at the BHF DASH diet and try and increase your exercise levels. No more cakes and biscuits ?

I was with a couple of people, who had diabetes the other day.

They were both addicted with fast food,

told me they would rather die without enjoyment.

One said, "my body needs energy i.e. fast food."

She also had retinopathy, wondering where she got that from.

I went quiet after that. . .

They were both heart disease candidates.

But you never know . . .I notice fast food chains at the motorway services are very busy. NHS can't keep up!

One thing they were right is that "organic food" is so expensive, nobody will pay far more for that,

and if it's so healthy, then the government should subsidise.

I couldn't disagree.
