Hi guys going to the GP on Monday to ask for some bloods done. I had my cholesterol done a year ago and it was fine. Not high. Would it be worth checking it again as I have lost loads of weight to since last year. Cut out lots of stuff.
Thanks

No harm because other factors can come into play. If you take statins an LFT (liver function test) would be appropriate. As you were previously overweight HbA1c and kidney function would be sensible as would a FBC (full blood count).
I might add a few more if they come to mind but Lewis Hamilton is driving the bus and I am being tossed around. I used to partake in some motorsport but driving is better than passangering!
Definitely as it certainly changed mine.I've lost four stone after changing my diet to mostly plant-based.My cholesterol was 4.7 and the most recent one was 3.6.That's without statins.
Hi I am on statins and have been told I have to have a yearly blood test. Had to have liver repeated and was going to be given vitamin D, but I already take them. But they never repeated the blood one? Gp said it was 44.3. But it had the same bit on it as the liver one did. I had a print out of it and there is no point in it. It says 443. Obviously why it needed to be redone! So will have to go back and ask. So if you are on a statin you should ask if you need a yearly blood test. My cholesterol had gone down so that was good. Not that I thought it was too high in the first place!
Regards Dee.
Yeah I had all my bloods done last year they where all good my cholesterol was 2.1 not sure if that's good or not. All the others are okay. I'm a real big worrier at them minute my mum died suddenly 4 years ago from heart attack she had real high blood pressure. Was put onto meds but they did nothing my dad has had 2 Heart attacks and a triple heart bypass and now I am super stressing out about myself. I take 60mg of propranolol a day because of the anxiety and I have been to a heart screening had an ECG which was okay and the cardiologist said no traces of sudden cardiac arrest. I have had X rays and more ECG and they are all okay. I can't seem to stop worrying about myself now. I have lost over 5 stone since last year and changed a lot of what I eat etc. My bmi is now 31.8. I just don't know what to do.
Given your family history, you might want a referral to a cardiology consultant to consider a cardiac MRI and ultrasound scans on your arteries - at least femoral and carotid.
Hi guys went to my GP and they wouldn't do bloods as they said there's no real need to. They said I am healthy and have no cause for concern as I am only 28. Both parents had heart attacks in there late 50s early 60s. They told me to carry on loosing weight have nearly lost 6 stone and got my bmi down to 31.1. The only thing I did ask about was blood pressure as I have always had different readings I am suffering from major health anxiety and normal anxiety and depression at the minute. I just took my blood pressure when got up and it was 127/88 the second number is always in the 80s but it has been down to the 60s for a while I have only had 2 reading out the 6 times I have been to the docs where it has been in the 80s.
