Hi all. The PM website is recommended a lot fot heart failure. I notice that the forum is on Facebook. I have never joined Facebook, and with the bad press it gets, I am reluctant to do so. Any reassurance? Thanks

Pumping marvellous
Pumping marvellous is not just a Facebook group, it is a patient led HF charity that is working towards better recognition and treatment for HF patients, the information is always up to date whether it's NICE guidelines, current medications or meds being trialed, etc. Check out their website. The Facebook page is their closed group for support, advice and info for those who have HF, their families and their carers, the group is fantastic. It's a very friendly caring group where you can share stories, seek advice, etc without judgement, if you want to just sound off, they'll be someone there to listen & there are no hidden agenda's. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Hi Patjo
Facebook is fine to use. There's a few things you shouldn't do, most of which are common sense, don't put personal details which can be used to identify you/where you live - address, telephone details, pictures that could identify where you live, details of you're movements, holidays etc - as John Terry the ex Chelsea player would confirm, he put a load of stuff online about how much he was enjoying his holiday , and his home promptly got robbed.
The other thing with social media is verbal abuse, but this wouldn't be a problem with Pumping Marvellous as it is a closed group, so only members can comment.
Facebook is ok if you are sensible. GO into thye security settings and make it so only you can post on your page, don't accept friend requests from anyone you don't know and don't give any personal details you wouldn't want public
