I am to have a CRT D fitted in the coming weeks. I realise that you cannot drive for 4 weeks following the procedure. Is it usually ok to drive again after this. I am not sure if typically it is usually ok to drive or whether there is a chance I will not be able to drive again. I am diagnosed with HF but otherwise have no health issues. Have a clean license with no claims history. I ask this as I was thinking of changing my car but this may not be a wise move. Has anyone on this community had any experience with this.
Many thanks.
Jim

My partner had a similar device implanted (his is an S-ICD). He had his licence revoked for a year because his implant was following a cardiac arrest. Normally, I think, you would be advised to stop driving for one month post implant. You may find these 2 web sites helpful:
Hi rimpac, you will need to tell the DVLA and they will ask you to complete a medical form. I would give the DVLA a phone call and ask for their medical team. My husband did this and found them very helpful.
I had cardiac arrests and was in a coma and to stop for six months .When I asked my gp if I should get it back she said definitely not but others go back to driving .
The only thing you can do is ask your doctor .If it is straight forward I think you probably will be allowed to.
