Sincere apologies

As the posts regarding Ivor Cummings have been shut down I would like to reply on here mainly to Helen from the Bhf and ticking ticker who's last post was excellent.

There seems some mis conception here. I developed coronary heart disease 3 years ago without any of the established risk factors so I began researching medical studies to try and find ways to slow my disease progression.

With out any modifiable risk factors I was left with taking the prescribed medication which I have done for the last three years.

I do not advocate stopping statins, and don't believe anyone should stop taking their medication without their doctors approval. I take them and firmly believe that they are an important part of the treatment for people with established heart disease.

The Ivor Cummings video was not put on here by him to sell anything but by a patient who found his points interesting.

They interest me because like half of heart disease patients I have excellent cholesterol values so maybe changing my diet along with medication and other lifestyle changes could be beneficial. The fact is that a CAC scan, like CT scan for cancer, would identify people who have disease and would benefit from medication and I believe Ivor is actually trying to help people.

I thought a place where heart disease patients discuss there experiences would be an ideal place for debate in the hope that we could all benefit but it seems that some people think I'm pursuing some agenda or trying to stop people taking statins but I greatly support there use and hope that they have been successful in stabilising and regressing my disease.

Once again my sincere apologies if I have offended anyone

As someone who is affected thru genetics I found the film very interesting and it made me aware of the fact that there is an option out there for people in my situation. It has provided me with a good basis for a discussion with my own children. I was not at all offended.

I'm in the same situation as you with genetics seen as the main cause of my disease.

I to think the film was interesting, raising some valid points that people with heart disease could benefit from.

Ultimately at the end of the day all Ivor Cummings seems to be suggesting is to stop eating crap highly processed foods which surely is a good thing for everyone except some of the large food companies

I agree - I love discussions about different perspectives/research on CVD. I found the Ivor Cummings video very interesting. It links in with what I thought was modern research put forward by people like Dr Michael Mosley. Dr Azeem Malhotra, etc. with regard to diet and heart/cardiovascular disease. Not what I would class as outlandish quackery.

Some people don't like it as some of the dietary advice goes against some of the things that the bhf recommends but these guys make a lot of sense to me.

Dr Ford Brewer is another cardiologist with similar views
