I've just been diagnosed with AF and about to start taking Verapamil (can't take beta blockers as I have asthma), has anybody experienced side effects from Verapamil? I'm a bit concerned that one of its listed side effects is stroke when they are supposed to help prevent this.

Verapamil for AF
I was switched from Sotalol to Verapamil about 6 months ago, I have not experienced any adverse reactions to the medication!
I was on Verap for a long time - they had to increase the dose from 120-360 over the years as it stopped working for me. I had no side effects & felt well on it though I still had af from time to time. When I was put on Bisoporol I felt v unwell & am now on Diltiazam similar to Verap (calcium ch blocker)
I was prescribed modified release verapamil and losartan for my hypertension back about 2002 after having side effects from all the previous drugs. Initially severe constipation was a problem from verapamil and in the first few weeks more than usual sensitivity to sunshine.
I was on Verapamil until I had my pacemaker fitted four years ago.
