Has anyone out there developed Oedema in feet and ankles while taking Verapamil 240mg? This has only happened to me since the dose was double by my consultant.

Verapamil is a CCI (Calcium Channel Inhibitor) although its3name sounds more like an ACE Inhibitor.

CCIs are well known for this. I had to stop Amlodipine because of this. However, with another CCI, Diltazem, I did not have this problem. You need to contact your consultant or GP as it is an undesirable state of affairs!

Thanks Michael, I have an appointment next month. I'll wait to see what he suggests.

Please don’t wait until next month. It’s important that other things are ruled out!

I was on verapamil for about a year before my ankles started to swell. They used to be back to normal in the morning but they now stay a bit puffy before swelling more as the day goes on. I checked in with cardiac nurse who quickly dismissed it despite ankles having fluid in them!

I got in touch with cardiac nurse and she asked me to halve verapamil from 240mg to 120 mg. My ankles are definitely better, no way as swollen as before. Get advice from your Consultant

Thanks for that Decilyn. I’ll get back in touch with cardiac nurse as she has put me on Elantan so might be feasible to halve verapamil

I hope it works for you. I'm glad just to wear my shoes more comfortably.
