Feeling stressed

Having to work during UCI CHAMPIONSHIPS here in Harrogate and Ripon. Travelling, parking, concerns about shift patterns..... honestly wished I taken holiday! Big event this.

You can follow this on yorkshire2019.co.uk

Road closures are in place causing massive upheavals for working people.

Not gonna be an easy 10 days for me and post heart attack 6 months.

Looks like a great event and I’m sure you’ve tried to plan your movements around it?

Can I then give you some annoying (but wise) advice?

You can either worry or not worry. It’s your choice.

There are some great approaches to dealing with your thoughts (CBT) and learning relaxation techniques if you feel yourself beginning to worry.

The constructive bit is learning them, so you can give yourself a choice!

A shame you don't have much time, this time!

Good luck.

I think you just need to keep calm. Roads in Harrogate have been closed for months in some place or other. Road works are being carried out all over Yorkshire so you must be used to it by now. You say you’re six months post heart attack I’m seven and I’ve decided there’s no rush to get anywhere any more. Yes it’s frustrating sitting in traffic but I’ve decided I’m not going to let it stress me out any more. Look at the flowers around you. Think about what you’re going to have for lunch/dinner. Think about your last holiday. Anything to take your mind away from the stress of the present. It works for me.

Hi Maisie. Yesterday stayed most day in bed, sleeping and resting. I felt really rough and nauseous when l woke up. After breakfast felt much better. 6 months post heart attack, these shifts do take it out on you especially getting up at 5 am. Just like a bit of waking up time before all kicks off at 8 am and than leave house at 7 am. My whole body was aching, especially in my rib and lower back area, from opening and closing dishwashers a drillion times. Feel better this morning. Hope my work place will realise, that after 4 or 5 shifts I need time off to recuperate physically. It's tough to make them understand, that all is not well yet and still get exhausted.

Busy days feel like a day in the Gym!

Do this 4 or 5 x for 7 or 8 hours, you sure feel exhausted and pumped out 🚲

Anyway hope you all have a good day 🌝😊🌝

Apparently is a one off here with this UCI ! But I travel 12 miles to work and getting to work and parking will be difficult from tomorrow onwards especially. Where I work it's all closed off now.

Secondly got to do another 4 shifts. Been hard at work today. Worked until 11.30 pm and had to be back on shift at 8 am.

Felt my heart twice today. Not a good sign my friend. I only slept 4 hours last night. Not good as need more sleep at least 7 hours, than I feel okay. Speak soon 👍😊

Been a tough 6 days at work. Kitchen Porters don't just wash dishes, silver, cutlery, pots, frying, pans, gastro trays, filter oil, clean fryers out, wash other equipment. We use chemicals for accomplishing other jobs in kitchen and a decarboniser machine to clean pots + pans etc, sweep, scrub floors, wash walls and ceilings down, scrub our metal shelfs for dishes, metal and dirty stuff, take rubbish and cardboard out, clean walk-in fridge and floor, scrub walk-in freezer floor, tidy up, sweep or mop throughout the day, wash up like crazy when its mega busy, keep staff entrance swept and clean. And then do all sorts of other jobs Chefs can think off..... so you got to be kind of fit otherwise you wouldn't last in this job.

Was really tired after 6 shifts and thank God allowed to have a rest for a few days.

But going to do some strength training and more walking this week as my muscles in my arms and my sides are aching, think pulled a intercostal muscle between my rips on my left side, from opening and closing dishwashers. They are kind of heavy. Had a 30 minutes soak in my bath this late afternoon to soak away aches and pains. Felt more relaxed and even more sleepy afterwards.

Looking forward to my days of freedom until Saturday!!! 🌃🌠😊🌌😊
