Morning Tori,

Great you had a better night. Fingers crossed for slimming world, you are doing great. Enjoy your walk this afternoon, very cloudy but it’s dry here in Central Scotland. Take good care.

Overcast and cool here in West Yorkshire, good luck with the weigh in.

Cloudy but dry (so far) over here near the Mearns as well. And last night it was chilly enough we needed another blanket on the bed - bit early for that even for NE Scotland!

Must admit felt a definite chill, still have veg growing in the pod, have a winter cover for it but think it’s a bit early, but you never know! Have sown winter lettuce so will see how it goes, along with carrot and Pak Choi.

My husband is reluctant to give winter lettuce a go, can't say I blame him as the slugs eat better from our garden than we do!

Planted potatoes for Christmas! They are in a Vegebag and are growing so well they will be ready long before Christmas!! The beauty of the pod, no nasties can get in😂 though the squirrels are in my pots! Found one over turned and compost everywhere! Have bought some really beautiful bulbs this year so have bought chicken wire to put over the top of the pots to try and stop them digging them up. He sits on the rail outside the French door looking at me with his little paws on his little fat tummy 😂

What a testament to the VegPod - now I really have to get one! Nice giggle about the fat little squirrel, is he a red or grey?

Grey, haven’t seen him for months but there he was over the weekend 😂 know it’s not the same one but the way he sits there looking at me could be, he seems to be saying when are you planting your bulbs? 😂 the pod as been great, had lovely salad over the summer lots of herbs the only thing didn’t have success with as been spring onions, no idea why.

Spring onions are very hit and miss to grow. I have had a bit of success with some I started in modules and transplanted as clumps this year. I have some currently on a sunny windowsill, still in their modules but almost ready to eat. Germination was very poor.

Oh thanks for that everything else we have sown as done really well. This Vegepod as been such a help for my husband. Will try the winter veg, with the winter cover on, though we live in central Scotland so it might not be very successful 😂

I’m in Aberdeenshire! I’m going to try winter stuff in my poly tunnel. I have often sown/planted now for an early crop in the spring. The ‘new tatties for Christmas ‘ have worked well for us in previous years but make sure the growbag is well wrapped up against the cold - frosted tatties are awful!!

Think we planted the potatoes too soon they are growing so well they will be ready well before Christmas! Our sons bought my husband this Vegepod / Vegebag system ( he as had a stroke) so he could carry on getting his hands in the soil! It’s been amazing over the Summer so we just need to see how it performs over the winter 😂

Janma123 in reply to080311

If you leave them in the compost, wrapped up they will be fine. We used to leave our potatoes in the ground under a straw blanket and dig as we needed - they kept beautifully.

Thank you so much for that we have never grown winter potatoes before he as done first earlies most years, but this is new too us. I wrap fleece round my pots so will cover the bag, everything as a blanket 😂 Granddaughter in Australia insisted Papa had a nectarine! It’s 4 years old now never had any fruit but it’s 4 times the size it was, wrap it every year and so far it’s survived! Again thank you for the information.

Best wishes Pauline

You are so inspiring on so many levels! Here's to a loss this week - and hugs if a small gain.

I'm trying to argue with my scales this week. I know my gain is owing to fluid retention and wretched weather keeping me indoors but I'm still arguing, lol!

Losing weight and then keeping it off is much harder for us Hearties, especially Lady Hearties. Between medications, fluid retentions, 'bad days' meaning the last thing we have the energy for is exercise and spending time preparing heart healthy meals and snacks, the weight comes on easily and refuses to go gracefully!

stillaboveground in reply toSunnie2day

Oh I feel exactly like you, I have gained 4lbs this week, I am going to dust the scales in case it is heavy dust, it can't be anything else.

Sunnie2day profile image

LOL! YES - it's excess dust, thank-you!!

I don't understand why my scales get so dusty, I'm on & off them so often!

That's good that you slept well and are ready again to take on whatever the week throws at you, you are so strong & resilient. Hoping for a good SW result on Weds and you can report that to Newcastle on Friday. Is it tomorrow that Olivia Grace arrives? Always in my thoughts, sending love & hugs your way. xxxxxxx

Your exercise steps really put me to shame! Here on the cloudy South Coast, my efforts so far have been to go out earlier once the rain had stopped to stamp down all the holes that the foxes had dug overnight, and clear the lawns of animal poo!! Great fun!! The friendly cat who lives next door came out to help me, so we had a chat and a cuddle together. Yesterday I had a short walk when collecting my granddaughter from school, but I know I need to up my game as I have done little of my normal exercise since the start of the first lockdown. I hope the rain holds off for your venture outside today, and you certainly have something to look forward to with the imminent arrival of your little one. I know we are all looking forward to a photo of her!! Hope you have a good day.🙂

Good you had a better nights sleep. It's raining quite heavily in Nottingham and gives me no encouragement to go out for a walk. Hope it stays dry for you.
