Does anyone get any intercostal muscle pain or aches in the ribcage when running?
I had a muscle spasm/cramp some time ago, say 12 weeks. I was concerned it was something cardio so had some blood tests done for cardiac markers these came back OK. I was still concerned so had a cardiac MOT done, this included 2 ECGs, an ultrasound and about 12 blood tests. All were good except a couple of vitamin deficiencies which I am now having supplements for. Doc diagnosed intercostal muscle spasm.
I still from time to time am aware of some dull aches around the area where I originally had the spasm. This was particularly noticeable when I did a tough run the other day, probaby because I am working those ribcage muscles.
Does anyone have experience of this?
Thanks

Hello I used to experience similar pain and gp and cardiologist confirmed this as costochrondritis. Like you said its Very painful and and can take weeks for it to settle down. I have had 4 flare ups of it and have managed to avoid anymore as I rested properly the last time I have it. I was told to take anti inflammatories to aid recovery. Recovery took longer as I am unable to have anti inflammatories. You may have something similar you may not but thought I'd share. Hope you feel better soon. Take care
