Going back to the gym

Hi everyone I had a pacemaker fitted in May 2018. I've now joined the gym and most of the cardio machines....treadmill etc have heart rate monitors incorporated into the handles. I'm presuming these are ok for pm users but not 100% sure. Any advice would be appreciated

Hi I found them to be reasonable accurate when I have compared the numbers from my own strap. It just means you have to hang onto the machine and unable to walk naturally.

I do think it’s worth investing in a heart rate chest strap that connects with a watch.(Not expensive)

I monitor it while I’m out on my bike and try to stay in the aerobic zone.

Regards

Neil

Thanks Neil that's helpful. I think that's what I'll do. I want to get back out on my bike also,so it would be useful for that

I agree. I do find I look at it a lot though. After my HA the cardiologist told me I have to calm down and not take my heart rate to it’s max while climbing hills.

Found this hard as the clue is is the hill.

I have recently invested in an electric road bike, so I can go out again on club rides.

I still hate having to do this as I had no red flags of heart problems.

I struggle more mentally than physically.

How do you cope?
