GTN spray and tablets

Hi, I'm new on here. I had my heart attack in March this year and a stent put in. I've recently been prescribed isosorbide mononitrate tablets - I was told it was instead of my GTN spray and I would never need to use the spray again. Is this right? In some stressful situations I do get mild chest pain and feel it would be beneficial to use it - would this be safe? Any advice would be very welcome!

Hello and welcome to the forum! I was on isosorbide mononitrate before my bypass. Whilst it basically stopped angina I did have a few episodes, some quite severe. I was given GTN spray prior to a CT scan and I felt quite woozy and got a bad headache. Check with your doctor if he feels it is OK but my experience suggests there may be issues?

Thank you - I will!

I was prescribed these but had to stop with 48 hours due to major headaches. Now I’m trying Nicorandil but that seems the same! Getting fed up with the whole thing. Must be something that will halo without the crippling heads?
